Frequently asked questions PDF Print E-mail
1. How much is the annual membership fee?  There is a small annual membership subscription of £30 (£15 concessions).

2. What does this cover?  The general running costs of CLOG eg the group's Public Liability Insurance, monthly Thursday evening social events (room hire, food and drink, external speaker expenses, club equipment), Clogprints newsletter, renting a room for committee meetings, hosting our website etc.

3. Can I pay my membership fee or pay for trips electronically ?  At present we only accept cheques.  In early 2007 we actively looked at other payment methods, but decided they were too expensive or complicated for a voluntary group like CLOG to administer.

4. How many members are there?  CLOG has over 200 members.

5. What is the age range of the membership?  Our members are of all ages but at present most are between their 30s and 50s.

6. Who runs CLOG?  There is an elected committee who look after the overall running of the group. The actual events are run by any individual member who wants to organise an event.

7. What is the easiest way of finding out more about CLOG?  The best way to find out whether the group can offer the right mix of outdoor and social events for you is to try us out.  You can come along on up to three outdoor or social events to decide if it's what you are looking for before you need to make a decision about whether to take up membership.

8. After 3 events who do I contact to join?  See the How To Join and Contacts pages for details of the current Membership Secretary.

9. Will I have to organise events?  Only if you want to.  Some members lead lots of events, and some very few - it's up to you.

10. Where do I send my cheque to apply to go on a CLOG trip?  Usually you will be asked to post your cheque to the home address of the CLOG Bookings Co-ordinator, but see the individual trip announcement details to be sure.  These details are emailed to all members and can also be found on our Events Calendar.

11. If I post a cheque off to go on a CLOG trip how will I find out if I am actually on the trip?  Sometimes more people send cheques in than there are places on the trip, so you may not get on every trip you apply for.  However the individual trip organiser or the CLOG Bookings Co-ordinator will normally email or phone you well in advance of the trip to confirm whether you have a place.

12. Can I take my dog on Clog walks?  Yes provided it is well-behaved and on a lead where livestock are present or if the leader requests. Also it is courteous to check with the leader beforehand as some leaders are happier about dogs than others.
